Asia’s largest rural ICT forum

Connecting rural communities is one of the key focus areas of ICT in Asia. Governments and private sector realise the importance of harnessing technology to bridge the digital divide and create new market opportunities.

To map the latest developments in ICT and rural connectivity, the Second Connecting Rural Communities Asia Forum (CRC) 2008 is being organised by Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisations (CTO) from April 15-18, 2008, at Le Meridien, Kerala. The Department of Telecommunications, Government of India will be hosting the event.

The theme of the 3-day workshop is Last Mile Solutions for Sustainable and Inclusive ICT Connectivity and discussions would focus upon a wide range of topics including Broadband, CDMA, Value Added Services, E-governance, financing rural projects, etc.

The conference will bring together various stakeholders from government sectors, regulatory bodies, mobile operators, satellite operators, Internet Service Providers, infrastructure providers and banks, and serves as an excellent platform to share strategies for connecting rural Asia and evaluate best practices for using ICT for socio-economic benefits.
