Translate.org.za wins African ICT Achiever 2006 Award

The work of Translate.org.za includes the translation of computer software into 11 official languages of South Africa by using local translator and creating the first South African keyboard. According to Dwayne Bailey, Founder of Translate.org.za, this is the first African's-helping-Africans, no strings attached Free Software.

The translator also offers the spell check, so that all Africans no longer have to suffer the indignity of their language. WordForge Foundation, the founding partner of Translate.org.za will continue to help Africa and rest of the world. Supporters of Translate.org.za include Obsidian Systems, The Shuttleworth Foundation, St James Software, Hewlett-Packard South Africa, the Department of Communication and the CSIR.
