Science and Technology Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana while endorsing the importance of taking new technology to the rural sector pointed out that the poverty stricken community could not yet think of ICT getting into their homes.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) Forum 2006 themed "Creating Prosperity Through Innovation - ICT at Work in Development" at the Colombo Hilton 8th May, 2006, he said when 29 per cent of the children population below five years of age in Sri Lanka were suffering from malnutrition they could not think of getting ICT getting into their homes.
