Elsevier announces partnership between Scirus and NDLTD

Elsevier today announced a landmark partnership between Scirus, its free science-specific search engine, and the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) to add the extensive collection of theses and dissertations of its member institutes to Scirus. In addition to indexing the content on Scirus.com, Scirus will power a search service on the repository's site. The service will ensure this content will be easier to find on both the NDLTD and Scirus websites.

"Until now, theses and dissertations have not been fully leveraged by postgraduate students and researchers in their work because these documents have been difficult to find and retrieve," said Deborah Kahn, an associate at Electronic Publishing Services, Ltd.

To combat this trend, Scirus has indexed over 200,000 theses and dissertations, in more than twelve languages, The theses and dissertations are from institutes around the world, including their largest content contributors Library and Archives Canada, Hong Kong University, Brazilian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (IBICT), MIT, University of Uppsala, National Sun Yat-Sen University of Taiwan (NSYSU) and Virginia Tech.

By providing full-text and fielded search capabilities on both Scirus and NDLTD's site, Scirus ensures users can easily search and find the information they need beyond web and journal content.
