Geological Survey of India adapts IT for better performance

GSI is setting up a robust Information Technology infrastructure connecting the distributed offices all over India. Local Area Networking(LAN) has already been completed in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Jaipur offices. Implementation is also in progress at Kolkata, Nagpur and New Delhi offices.

Soft copy conversion of all ( ~33,000 nos. approx.) unpublished reports of GSI has been completed and the Meta Data in respect of all of them have been completed in the old format.

Out of a total of 5104 sheets covering the entire country, 3448 number of geological maps (scale 1: 50000) have been compiled and 1851 maps digitised.
